Racing Club de Montevideo secured its qualification for the upcoming edition of the Copa Sudamericana after the draw against Peñarol on matchday 14 of the Torneo Clausura.
The team led by Espinel holds the fifth position in the Overall Table with 50 points, ensuring that regardless of the outcome in the last match of the year, they will be international participants in 2024.
This will be the second time that the team from Sayago competes in a tournament of this kind. The first instance was the Copa Libertadores in 2010, where they finished second in the group alongside Corinthians, Cerro Porteño, and Deportivo Independiente de Medellín. To reach that group, they had eliminated Junior de Barranquilla in the preliminary stage (2-2 in the first leg and 2-0 in the second leg in Montevideo).
